MMF supports “No Speed Limit” August 9, 2019 Jim Paul Blair, MMF President; Ched Wetz, MMF Chairman; Ronald Mayes, MPD/Coach – “No Speed Limit” The mission of the “No Speed Limit” Youth Track Club is to provide life-long learning experiences and healthy opportunities for children and youth living in the Muskogee area. The goal is to give students the support and encouragement they need to excel both on the field and in the classroom as well as to develop character and leadership skills that will serve them throughout life. In 2010, Ron and Don Mayes helped 12 kids prepare for the State and National Track Meets. The next year 26 kids competed at state, and one finished 7th in the standing long jump at National. In 2015, “No Speed Limit” Track Club was founded with over 100 kids trying out for a team of 48 coached by six volunteers. In 2018 this track club was able to take 25 kids to compete in a National track meet in Greensboro, North Carolina. In 2017, “No Speed Limit” merged with Run for Pride. The athletes are Muskogee kids ages 6-18. The goal is to help kids who want to improve their physical fitness, mental stamina, and teamwork through organized track and field competition. “No Speed Limit” sanctioned by the USA Track & Field National Governing body and its local Gulf Association for track and field, distance running, race walking, and cross country.
